Helping today Helping tommorow
The Green Badge is an introductory learning and values programme that helps children and adolescents begin to understand, practice, and live Agenda 2063 – The Africa We Want in age-appropriate and meaningful ways.
Anchored in African Union Executive Council Decision EX.CL/Dec.1315(XLVII), the Green Badge contributes to the objectives of the Agenda 2063 Academy by nurturing early awareness, shared values, and a sense of responsibility for Africa’s future—starting from childhood.
The Green Badge introduces young people to:
- Direction — understanding Africa’s shared future and aspirations,
- Results — learning how effort, discipline, and teamwork create outcomes, and
- Custodianship — caring for people, resources, and the environment.
Age Pathways
The Green Badge is offered across three learning pathways:
- Awareness (ages 5–9)
- Understanding (ages 10–13)
- Orientation (ages 14–17)
Learning Approach
Learning is experiential and playful, using:
- stories, games, and creative expression,
- simple projects at home, school, and in the community, and
- reflection on values drawn from the 7 Aspirations of Agenda 2063.
Participants complete the Green Badge with a Green Badge Commitment and join a community of young learners, fostering peer learning, positive recognition, and a lifelong connection to the Africa We Want.
